Megan Fourie
Costumes
About
Megan Fourie graduated from the Costume for Stage and Screen course at Edinburgh College in 2023 before joining the Arts University Bournemouth for her third year and receiving her degree in Performance Design and Film Costume.
Having been passionate about theatre and film and television from a young age, it wasn't until she studied Fashion and Textiles in high school and attended a degree show that she pursued a career in costume.
Although Megan is well trained to do some dressmaking and tailoring, she is happiest when completing sketches and using her imagination. As someone who is fascinated by history, she also enjoys the process of research and visiting museums and galleries.
Taking on opportunities that came up in her studies, Megan has completed work experience at prestigious companies such as Community Clothing and Outlander.

Companies
from past collaborations, experiences and jobs
A few of the collaborative projects and experiences worked on across the film, television and fashion industries.
Outlander
Costume Department
Worked on series 7 of Outlander whilst studying at Edinburgh College. First experience of working in the industry, being taught a lot about the running of a big production and how many bits there are to it. Spent time in the Stockroom, Craft and Embroidery sub departments, and greatly enjoyed all of them. It was an honour not taken lightly.
Community Clothing
Collection Photoshoot
Another unbelievable opportunity was getting to work on a Community Clothing Photoshoot whilst at Arts University Bournemouth. To be chosen from the course showed a risk paid off. It was a long and busy day of pressing sportswear and styling and dressing dance models, but well worth it. Having started out from the basics of fashion, it was a good way to see the ways it differed from the costume industry. The clothing was of a great quality and it was easy to get behind and promote the sustainability campaign.
SubAlley Productions
Costume Supervisor for E-MOT
One project at Arts University Bournemouth was to source and customise costumes for the Bournemouth University grad film E-MOT by SubAlley Productions. Learned a lot about working with a budget and knowing when to compromise on things. It was a lesson in contemporary costume and the benefit of buying cheap and tweaking things to suit the vision of the director. The futuristic setting of the sci-fi story was also a nice change from historically accurate or period costume with more emphasis on customisation and the overall effect rather than perfect seams. There was a lot of new materials to work with and skills to learn.
SISATA
Researcher and Designer for Peter Pan
Privileged to have the unique role of looking into the history of the isle of Portland and getting to choose characters to make up the group of natives in SISATA's version of Peter Pan. Access to the Arts University Bournemouth costume store meant period costumes were put together with what was available. A small budget was used to buy props that helped the actors to convey the story and characters.
